A woman’s life and love are compromised in this pulse-pounding thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

Dr. Ellie Sullivan has witnessed the shooting of an FBI agent in pursuit of a ruthless modern-day Bonnie and Clyde known as the Landrys. The only person to see the shooter’s face, Ellie is suddenly thrust into the center of a criminal investigation spearheaded by the no-nonsense, by-the-book, and tantalizingly handsome agent Max Daniels.

With the Landrys captured, she’ll be called to testify. But the Landrys have been caught before, and each time the witnesses are scared into silence—or disappear. Now Max vows to be Ellie’s shadow, promising never to leave her side until the trial. But that could be dangerous for both of them, and it isn’t long before the sparks—and the bullets—fly.

  • Perfect one day read

I started this book on a rainy afternoon and was hooked within a couple of pages. It was a well written story that made the characters jump off the pages and into your mind. Great writer and I couldn't put the book down!

Looking for an escape? This'll do it for you. Easy, warm. Last hundred pages are rushed to tie all story lines to the fairy tale ending.
  • the ideal man (?)

I've been a fan of this author for a long time, but this book was nothing but a waste of time for me, and an easy way for her to make money.
  • Suspenseful in more ways than one!

Julie Garwood really took her romance and danger to a new level! It was suspense and surprise around every corner until the very end! I couldn't put it down!

Very well written... I aspire to write so well! This story had an even mix of everything a person could ask for in a contemporary fiction piece, nicely done!

Just one more reason I love Julie Garwood. This is one I'll read over and over.
  • Not believable

    By Yawn_Bored
I used to read every Julie Garwood book that came out, but haven't done so in a few years. After reading the reviews for this one, I decided to check her newer stuff out, and had pretty high expectations because I always loved her books before. But this book is not only boring, but Ellie is too 'perfect' to be believable. She's gorgeous and blonde, a prodigal genius, loves sports center, beer, and football (even plays on multiple fantasy leagues, even though she barely has time to sleep because she's so busy being a brilliant surgeon), and falls right asleep after mind blowing sex, unlike all the other obnoxious females who want to-GASP!-cuddle and talk after sex. She's just a male fantasy, and doesn't have any depth. As for the rest of the book, it's just one cliche after another, and the conversations are really contrived, as well as having out of date phrases. Not worth it, move on.

I enjoyed the read, however, I kept thinking I've read this before. Somewhat like a repeat of several of Julie's other books.

  • My first Julie Garwood suspense...Loved it!

This was the first Julie Garwood suspense book I read. I loved her historical romances and I'm a huge fan of Linda Howard who tends to write romantic suspense, so I thought I'd give this a try, and wow, I really liked it. I had a hard time putting it down. I thought the story was great, the romance/chemistry was good. Will read more of her suspense books.
